PART 1:
Uncommon dreams require uncommon passion. Why? Because passion is the fuel that ignites supernatural focus. Supernatural focus yields discipline & completion. Completion births order. Order results in dominion and dominion generates power packed momentum strong enough to cause you to change your daily routine and... your future is hidden in your daily habits, your daily routine. So how do you cultivate uncommon passion?
PART 2:
So just imagine... You're at work walking down the hall with your coworkers on the way to the conference room for the usual monthly staff meeting. The day feels just like any other day and this meeting feels like any other monthly meeting. It's a small company and so you walk into the conference room and take the first seat you find. Everyone takes their seat and punctually as normal, the President, Dave walks in with grinning from one ear to the next. He's relaxed today dressed in neatly pressed tan pants and a long sleeve light blue shirt. No tie. Dave walks to the end of the conference room table from where you are and in a sudden glance, peers right at you, calls you by name and asks you to stand up.
Everyone and I mean everyone turns around and looks at you. You can only imagine what is going through their mind, because you know what is going through yours, "Did I do anything wrong?". You stand up trying desperately to conceal your shaking knees. Dave announces, "Please come hear for a quick second." "Sure" you gulp. You push out your chair and walk to the end of the conference room table knowing that everyone is staring at you, grinning of course. It feels like an eternity, but you finally make to the President's chair. "Hold out your hand" Dave asks. "Hold out my hand?" you think. "Hey, maybe I'm finally getting that huge bonus I've been working for the past few years for". To everyone's surprise, Dave hands you a long, cold, skinny, golden key. You know the types of keys you would normally see in a Nancy Drew Mystery movie. "A key sir?" you stutter.
Dave then directs you. "Please leave the conference room and stand on the other side of the door. I will lock the door behind you and will I call out to you from behind the door. I want you to open the door using the key!" Okay, so know everyone is REALLY stumped?? "Yes, Dave", you reply. And without another single word, you do exactly as instructed. Bravely you turn around, refusing to look at any of your other coworkers and head straight for the door. You open the door and exit the conference room. Surely enough, Dave as promised closes the door and locks it behind you. You turn around and look at the receptionist. She at this point is thinking the same thing, "Ooh! What did you do!?"
One minute goes by. Two minutes go by. Three minutes go by. It feels like the death march. An absolute eternity. Finally after 5 minutes, Dave shouts to you "Okay. Now open the door using the key." Whoa! Now you're okay. Nothing to worry about. Just Dave's typical demonstration of some new leadership policy probably. With a relieving smile, you take the long golden key out of your hand, which by now feels like a swamp infested pool filled with hot, salty sweat, put the key in the door, and turn the knob to go in. Looking behind you, you give the receptionist a smurky smile just to reassure her that 'you're okay'.
Only one problem.... The key fits the knob, but it doesn't unlock the door. "What? This can't be." You try over and over again. After two minutes of desperation, Dave shots "Is there a problem?" What do you say?? "Uh, no sir". It must be my sweaty hands you think. You put the key in again, and again, and again. Five minutes goes by. Ten minutes goes by and then you hear the sound of someone from the other side unlocking the door. It's Dave clearly seeing the sweat dropping down your brow like a rainfall in the rain forest.
"The key didn't work. Did it?" Dave hissed. "No. It didn't".
Interesting story huh? So what does this story have to do with me achieving my dreams? What if the conference room represented your dreams, your assignment, your God given purpose and destiny. Do you have the right key? You may have a key, but what happens when you try to open the right lock with the wrong key? Nothing. You see as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a dream team to fulfill God's purpose for your life, because if it's a dream God himself has given you, it's too big for you to fulfill by yourself. God will place people, finances, opportunities, ideas, inventions, favor, wisdom, and many other things along the path for you on the way to your destination, but if you're on the wrong path - you'll never find or receive them. And trust me, many things and people will come along with path to distract you to take you off the path. There will also be times when the path becomes narrow and hard and it will take everything to press through and on.
It is the POWER OF PASSION that focuses you, drives you, challenges you, and motivates you. And the fire of passion is generated by the engine of meditation. Yes, I said MEDITATION.
Here's the key: Meditate on the promise God has given. Meditate on the dream God has place inside of your heart. Make it a daily habit to close your eyes every day and see it, your dream on the movie screen of your mind as if it has already come to pass. Then feel it. Laugh, cry, scream, shout, rejoice - whatever you do praise God as you would as if it was right before you eyes, in your hand. Practice this everyday. See the scriptures, the promise God has given you until it talks to you. Until it has become more real to you than your circumstances. Until dream has gone from desire to burning passion. And when you have come to expect it (key) and have seen it and experience it in the movie screen of your mind (your heart), it won't be very long before you and everyone else will see it. Right before your eyes...
The Holy Spirit this word to me and it changed my life. "Daughter, you have to see it, believe it, and expect it (in your heart) before you'll ever see it in your life!"
"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus", Phil 3:13-14. Paul had focus. Paul had passion. Paul was obsessed to complete his race to finish the work the Lord had given him to do. His goal. His destiny.
